This is the green card category specifically dedicated to university professors and researchers.  In order to qualify for the EB-1 Outstanding Professors or Outstanding Researchers category, the applicant must show international recognition as an outstanding professor or researcher in a specific academic area.  

The applicant must have at least three years of experience in teaching or research and have a job offer for a tenured or tenure-track teaching position or permanent research position from a university or an institution of higher education.

A - Requirements

1. Three years of experience in teaching or research in a specific academic area
2. Job offer with tenure
3. International recognition as an outstanding professor or researcher that can be proved by meeting at least two of the following requirements:
   
   
• Receipt of major prizes or awards;
• Membership in associations that require outstanding achievements to its members;
• Published material in professional publications written by others about the applicant’s work;
• Participation as a judge of the work of others;
• Original scientific research; or
• Authorship of scholarly books or articles in the field.

B - Remarks

1. This category is exempt from the PERM or labor certification with the Department of Labor. 
   This reduces the processing time in approximately 6 months.
2. This category requires a very high standard of proof as the individual must be one of that small percentage who have risen to the very top of their field of work.
3. Normally there is an immediate green card available for this category regardless of the country of origin.
